Chartered in 1928, Alpha Zeta Omega is proudly rooted in the Durham community, where our legacy of sisterhood and service began nearly a century ago. As one of the earliest graduate chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, our chapter has remained steadfast in advancing the sorority’s mission while responding to the evolving needs of Durham and the surrounding communities. For generations, our members college-educated women committed to service have worked diligently to uplift families, empower youth, and address critical issues impacting women and girls.

 

Alpha Zeta Omega also takes great pride in supporting and mentoring the next generation of leaders through our guidance of two undergraduate chapters:·

• Alpha Chi Chapter at North Carolina Central University, and

• Iota Mu Chapter at Duke University

 

Through leadership development, academic support, and sisterly engagement, we remain committed to strengthening the bonds between graduate and undergraduate membership and ensuring the continued excellence of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.

 

Guided by our international program initiatives and fueled by our commitment to service, Alpha Zeta Omega continues to make a meaningful impact through programs that promote education, health equity, civic engagement, economic empowerment, and cultural enrichment. Our work is grounded in collaboration, compassion, and a deep love for the Durham community we have proudly served since 1928.
