Greetings, and welcome to the website of Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.  Since it was founded in 1928, the chapter has been an integral part of the Durham community. We remain dedicated to service to our city as we prepare to celebrate the chapter’s 90th anniversary this year.

In 2018, Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter is committed to implementing the 2014-2018 International Program, Launching New Dimensions of Service SM under the direction of the International President, Dr. Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson.  This program consists of five target areas:

  1. Educational Enrichment
  2. Health Promotion
  3. Family Strengthening
  4. Environmental Ownership
  5. Global Impact

Chapter members will also render service to the Durham community through a number of other local programs including Community Impact Days and our signature enrichment program ASCENDSM, designed to empower, engage and assist high school students in reaching their maximum potential.  Another program focused on high school students is our Debutante Cotillion program.  For 27 years, the Cotillion has provided young women who are high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to earn scholarships, increase knowledge in the areas of finance, health, career options and much more.

Alpha Zeta Omega is also honored to provide graduate advisors and mentors to the undergraduate members of Alpha ChI Chapter at North Carolina Central University, and Iota Mu Chapter at Duke University.

We invite you to support our initiatives and work with us  to positively impact  the Durham community. We encourage you to browse our website for more information and watch for updates about our community-based programs and events.

Yours in service,

Susan Sharpless, President
