Our ASCEND scholars demonstrated the true spirit of the holidays as they completed two community service projects in December. The scholars donated items to Ronald McDonald House of Durham from their Wish Tree which included gift cards, household cleaning supplies, disinfecting wipes, snacks, toys and clothing for the children staying at the House. The chairmen for this community service project were ASCEND scholars Adrienne Lyons and Khamryn McEachin.

Also during the holidays, the scholars created, signed and delivered Christmas cards to the residents of the Camellia Gardens Assisted Living Center. Additional community service projects the Scholars will participate in are volunteering with the United Way and Urban Ministries of Durham for the Martin Luther King Day of Service; a charity sports game; and fund raising bake sale and collection of personal toiletries for Ronald McDonald House residents.
